Hi, I’m Meredith
I am a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with a Masters in Counseling Psychology.
I work with teens, adults, mothers, families, couples and parents. I am a trauma-informed and depth oriented psychotherapist, committed to tailoring treatment to my client's individual needs. I am informed by a variety of methods, including attachment theory (examining how our early experiences may impact us today), narrative therapy (how the stories we tell about ourselves impact how we feel), mindfulness, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
I have worked in both private practice and school settings (both as a therapist and as a teacher), and have experience supporting my clients with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues and life transitions.
I also hold a Masters in Fine Arts in Poetry and taught writing and literature for 13 years in the California Community College system. I worked with students of all ages, languages, racial and ethnic backgrounds, and socioeconomic groups, as well as international students who hailed from countries across the globe.
As a student of poetry and a teacher of writing and literature, I became adept at not only listening for thematic elements and cultural/societal influences in people’s lives, but also how one might use language to express that which can feel ineffable. The work of therapy is similar in its quest to interrogate the experience of being human, find the language to release us from pain, and empower us to live more contented and fulfilling lives.
